If you're like me, you're heart beats just a bit faster each time you open a door. There is always that thrilling chance that on the other side you'll find another world. I've visited such places before, if only in dreams. This evening I opened my microwave and to my astonishment, found myself in a strange and unfamiliar world. It wasn't the golden wheat fields I long for but one can hardly be picky when magic manifests itself behind doors. The history of violence in that brutal den is terrifying. I stood dumb struck, frozen burritos in hand, between two worlds.
Here, flip it upside down and you see what I'm talking about.

Clean out that microwave, buddy!
At random, just listened to the first 4-5 minutes of Bible audio on Daniel 1-4. The speaker spent all that time to say that critics saying Daniel didn't write the book are to be ignored. As "proof", he gave one statement; that the use of Greek and Persian and Aramaic and Hebrew was "proof" that Daniel, in his capacity as an officer then, would have been in contact with people who used those languages. That’s it! He goes on to say that a whole semester is taken up to learn all the reasons why critics say the book was written much later, which the critics say is confirmed by the accuracy of the facts, which Daniel could not have known.
I don't know whether Daniel wrote the book or not. But I will say that the speaker's refutation is really lacking. His quote of the critics reasons for sayingwhatthey do actually sounds rather substantial. I guess I'm commenting here, because I'd like to warn you to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to what you post. A story of content is better, and I'm sure that was next, I just didn't listen that far. But if your purpose in posting these things is to generate interest in the reader's mind, then this sampling didn't.
The interesting words are yours about your life. Anyone interested in the bible already knows how to read and interpret for themselves. Relying upon speakers like this one is just telling the listener that they can't think forthemsleves, and further, they are being asked to listen to a very non-intellectual person talk about it in a very non-intellectual way.
Let me put it this way, bnoman: A very scary thing I see happening in our culture is that people are taking things out of context, using sound bites or images they agree with and throwing the rest out. In this way people get a constant supply of reaffirmations, reinforcing their own beliefs. That to me is hardly intellectual.
Ahhg, but I often tire from all the long winded critiques of the so called intellectuals. This is a place I come to rest.
Ok. Rest awhile. Think I will too. It so easy to say the wrong things and be misinterpreted via writing.
Wow... somethings never change. :P
Congratulations on the first Microwave that is Guantanamo approved.
